La Grande Alliance Infrastructure Studies place social acceptability and community engagement at the forefront. The Consultants executing the study are mandated to ensure that the requirements of communities and the opinions of its members are sufficiently incorporated in the Studies.

For the technical aspects of infrastructure, Consultants refer to past studies and existing infrastructure executed under similar circumstances to test assumptions and benchmark their findings. If no single comparable project exists, the Consultant will validate their findings against several projects.

The Consultants will refer to infrastructure that includes elements unique to development in Eeyou Istchee, including infrastructure:

  • Owned or developed alongside First Nation or Inuit communities
  • Constructed in regions with similar meteorological patterns (such as permafrost)
  • Planned in remote locations in the Northern Hemisphere
